Ahn Maternity Shoot

May 6, 2011

I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I last posted!  For those of you reading this, thanks for your support!!  😀  Feel free to subscribe if you wish!

As many of you know, Hai-En and I have been busy with the birth of our now 5-month-old twins.  Ever since December 3, 2010, my life has been a whirlwind of nursing, diaper-changing, and milestone-tracking.  They’re so precious and I love spending all day with them…and yet I still relish the time I have to myself at night or during their naps when I can work on my photos!  One of these days I’ll have to start posting photos of them as well.

Here is a maternity shoot I recently did for my dear friend Yun Kyung.  She and her husband Ellis are expecting a boy in 3 weeks!  Baby boy Ahn is one lucky dude because these parents-to-be are going to love him to pieces.  It’s awesome to think there is a little life inside that belly!  I can’t wait to meet him soon!

Baby E’s Dol

June 21, 2010

To those who may have been checking this blog….sorry, it’s been forever since my last post!  I’ve been MIA because we just bought our first house (still in Simi Valley) and moved 2 1/2 weeks ago.  We’re slowly but surely settling in.

So, this is baby E’s dol, which happened on the Saturday before our move.  The festivities were at Roy’s Hawaiian Restaurant in Pasadena.  I have to say this was one of the nicest dols I’ve ever been to, with the great food and relaxing ambiance.  Being at Roy’s made me want to go back to Hawaii.  Cutie E was such a calm, low-key baby!  This was the first time I had seen a baby happily wear his hanbok hat – not once did he try to remove it!  We also photographed his older brother L’s dol a couple of years ago…so it was good to see how much he’d grown into a handsome young boy.

Thanks, Mary and Mike, for patiently waiting….here is a sneak preview for you to enjoy in the meantime!

Jaxon’s Dol

March 29, 2010

This past Saturday, our friends Jerry and Jesga celebrated their 3rd son Jaxon’s first birthday.   The party is called dol in Korean, and it is often akin to a mini wedding reception, with fancy balloons, tons of Korean food, dressing up in Korean traditional clothing called hanbok, entertainment for the kids, a slideshow of the baby’s first year, birthday cake and ddok (korean rice cake).  Also an integral part of the dol is a game called doljabee where the birthday boy or girl selects an object which is supposed to determine their future career, and the guests predict which one he will pick.

Jaxon’s dol was no different.  I hard a hard time coaxing smiles from Jaxon that day, but when it came time to do the doljabee and he was released from the arms of his dad to grab whatever he wanted, he instantly had this look of joy on his face.  It was like he knew it was his moment.  Jaxon chose a spool of thread which means he’ll enjoy a long life.

Happy 1st Birthday, Jaxon!

Mary’s Baby Shower

March 21, 2010

Last Saturday I attended my friend Mary’s baby shower.   There were so many of her friends there, and lots of good food.  Mary was showered with tons of gifts for baby Z who is due to arrive in less than a month now.  Of course, I took my camera and got some shots.  Here are a few of them….

Playing a game where each guest had to draw a baby on the plate on top of her head and Mary determined which baby drawing was the best.

Mary’s friends engaged in unscrambling baby-related words.

Here we have a sneak peak at what Mary will look like in just a few months with her baby girl!

Wang Family Session

March 13, 2010

Last Sunday, we did a family photo session of Fred Wang’s family.  (Fred is Hai-En’s podiatry office’s IT guy.  The office is paperless so Fred is kind of important!)

We did the shoot at the Conejo Creek North Park in Thousand Oaks.  We rushed out there after church (in Montrose/La Canada) and to our dismay it was raining off and on during the drive there.  You see, we had originally scheduled to do the shoot on the previous Saturday but of all days in California to pour, that was the one.  So we postponed it to Sunday, and on Sunday it was supposed to be clear but it was actually drizzling here and there.  As we approached the park, dark clouds were hovering over it, which made us nervous.  Thank goodness, the Thousand Oaks area turned out to be partly cloudy and the park was dry, much to our relief.  Although the constantly changing light overhead presented a slight challenge, we had a great time with the Wangs.  They told us they had a lot of fun, too.

By the way, if you’re ever out in the area, this is a really nice park to just hang at.

Here are some photos that pretty much sum up the session.  Which are your favorites?

. . . and May’s Baby!

February 14, 2010

May and David welcomed their son J into the world on December 27, 2009.  We visited them in the maternity ward and shot a few photos of J.  He is very adorable and we look forward to getting to know him (and see who he looks like, though most seem to think he looks like his father).  I personally think it’s too early to tell, but he definitely is cute.  Here he is just two days old.

On Superbowl Sunday, we went to David and May’s house and I took a few shots of J while my hubbie Hai-En watched the Superbowl with the guys.  I could care less about the game, so I had some fun capturing J in all of his newborn glory.  Here he is at six weeks old.

May’s Baby Shower . . .

February 13, 2010

Back in October, our friend May had her baby shower and we shot some photos of her special day before her baby boy’s arrival.  Along with yummy food and gift-opening by the guest of honor, the ladies played an intense game of baby pictionary and one team in particular kept winning (hint: they’re the ones high-fiving each other).  Here are some of the images that we captured.
